Call for entry to all photographers, instagrammers, influencers and content creators.  Sault Area Arts Council presents Chippewa County in Photographs.  This is a collaboration of 48 photographers over 48 hours with 48 sections of Chippewa County.  Any type of photography is allowed.... Film, digital camera, phone, alternative processes.  Everyone is a photographer.

For 48 hours beginning at 9:00 pm on Friday, June 9th and ending at 9:00 pm Sunday, June 11th, 48 photographers will each explore their selected section of the map with their chosen camera medium.  The resulting images will be shown in the gallery of the Alberta House for the month of July.  Awards of $300 for best of show, $200 for runner-up and $100 for 3rd place will be given.  We will be awarding at least one gallery show to an artist for the 2024 season as well.

• June 4th:  Confirmation notifications sent out

• June 9th at 7pm:  Kick-off reception to draw your section of the map

• June 9th-June 11th:  Photographs Taken

• By July 5th:  Deliver printed gallery ready images

 

Accessibility:

We would like this event to be 100% inclusive.  Please make sure to select the box on the sign-up form if you will need to draw from locations that are accessible.

Fees:  

• A non-refundable $15 entry fee is required with the sign-up (payment link will be sent via email once form is received). 

​

Notification of Selected Artists:  

• Forty-eight photographers, plus two alternates to sign-up will be selected and notified.   SIgn-up will cut off when the total number has been reached.

Selected Artists Are Asked to Participate in the 48-Hour Photography Event:  

• Attend the launch party Friday, June 9th from 7:00-9:00 pm. Artists will be assigned a specific geographic area within Chippewa County (determined by a lottery, randomly choosing a piece of the map).  If you are unable to attend, please send a proxy.

• Take photographic images within your assigned geographic area any time beginning Friday, June 9th at 9:00 pm until Sunday, June 11th at 9:00 pm.

Selected Artists Are Required to Submit Artwork to the Chippewa County in Photographs Exhibit: 

• Deliver your gallery ready (framed or otherwise ready for presentation, with wire hanger on the back-please no sawtooth hangers) artwork to the Alberta House no later than July 5th.  

• Each artist is guaranteed ONE piece of artwork will be displayed in the exhibit.  

• Artists are encouraged to submit up to three pieces of artwork to the exhibit.

Sales:  

• All artwork must be available for sale at reasonable market prices.  

• Olive M. Craig Gallery will retain 30% commission on all works sold for non-Sault Area Arts Center members or 20% for members.

• SAAC reserves the right to use participants' submitted images, with appropriate acknowledgment, for purposes of publicity, education, and archival records.

• All reasonable care will be taken with artwork. SAAC, its officers, employees, volunteers, and representatives are not responsible for any loss or damage to exhibitors’ artwork, however caused, and whether in transit or on display.
